January Glossybox

It’s important to spoil yourself, and I’ve recently become a huge fan of subscription beauty boxes. I’ve tried Birchbox but I decided to give Glossybox a go as I’d heard good things.

The box is £10 plus £3.25 P&P, so it’s a little more expensive than Birchbox but the products are considered much better, or so I’ve been told. You can buy the product monthly or you can subscribe, however the box is constantly sold out so I highly recommend subscribing. The presentation is beautiful, the box is sturdy, and the items are wrapped in tissue paper with a ribbon, it’s very classy. Overall the items came to over £120 so you are definitely getting your money’s worth!

But honestly I was a little disappointed when I opened this box as nothing really jumped out at me (I don’t mean literally ha!). When I order a subscription box I expect items I’ve never see or used before, however this wasn’t the case, and a few of them I’d bought previously. Obviously for other people this wouldn’t be an issue and you’ll love it, but I was a little gutted.

Avant skincare Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye night cream (full size) RRP £98

So this is the special item from this months Glossybox, and as you can see it’s the one that pushes the overall total of the box up. This item is suppose to be anti-aging and should help rejuvenate tired eyes and reduce fine lines. The overall scent is lovely and the the formula melts into your skin. I’ve been using it for the past week now and being £98 I was expecting incredible things, but honestly I’ve had cheaper items that have show results quicker than this one, however only time will tell.

-417 Micro Luffa Foaming Gel RRP £13.31

This exfoliating makeup remover is used on damp skin leaving it feeling clean and smooth. It contains minerals of the dead sea and smells fresh. I like this product, however it did leave my face feeling a little sticky afterwards.

Hask Repairing Deep conditioning treatment (Full size) RRP £2.49

Infused with Bamboo oil this item will help strengthen damaged hair, leaving it shiny and smooth afterwards.

I’ve used this product before, and I usually pick them up from Superdrug. It is a good hairmask and smells incredible.

Batiste Rething Dry shampoo RRP £1.50

Infused with avocado (yes you read that correctly) this dry shampoo will not only stop your hair looking greasy, but also hydrate it at the same time.

It is a mini and after two uses it’s all gone, however for trips away it’s perfect for your suitcase. Also it leaves your hair smelling clean and fresh!

Maybelline dream beauty blender £4.99

This is basically a beauty blender on a stick. It’s suppose to help you blend your make up all over your face, as well as allowing you to reach those harder areas such as under your eyes. Honestly it’s rubbish, it’s so small and hard I’d probably end up spending the entire day trying to blend my face out! Not a fan.

Can you see my frustration with this box, other than the face mask everything else seemed a little cheap and thrown in just to fill up the content. I’m going to continue my subscription for another month and see what the next box is like, however if it’s no better it’s back to Birchbox for me!
