Umm… honestly not my favourite box. Fortunately I buy my boxes monthly and was able to enter a code to receive two items for free along with my box. I think if this hadn’t happened I would have been really cheated.
So let me break this down for you, Bichbox is a monthly beauty subscription box costing you £10 a month plus £2.99 P&P. You can sign up for a running subscription, however I like to know what’s in my box so order monthly. You’ll also find that there are usually discount codes or freebies by doing it this way. I’ve been buying from Birchbox now for over 5 months and I have to say that this was the worst box so far.
The first thing I pulled out of the box was this diamond eye mask that is surpose to brighten and de-puff under eyes. I really like vitamasques, but for me this mask was pretty rubbish. The pads felt flimsy and because the mask has a shiny metalic effect I honestly think it’s more of a fad. I noticed no difference and at £5 a pop I would not purchase again. The only good thing about this product was that it was full sized.
As you can see from the picture this is a sample size and when I opened the pot it looked like half the product was missing… I did like the smell though and think it’s a great idea for holidays as it’s a really hard consistency. However when I did attempt to use it I found that it rolled up into little balls instead of spreading smoothly.
Another sample size but this one is a conditioner. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty old school and like to use the same shampoo and conditioner, anyone else? It really upsets me when I don’t receive both. It does smell lovely though and I will use it as it’s suppose to stop hair from looking flat, but overall not that impressed.
The sneak peek item advertised for this box was the estate dew me highlighter. Birchbox and Estate collaborated together to create three highlighters, a gold, pink and purple one. Luckily I received the golden one which is the only one that would have suited me. This highlighter isn’t too bad, it’s very grainy and contains alot of glitter, something I’m not a huge fan of, however I know someone out there would be a fan. I like highlighters that melt into the face, and this just sits ontop of your foundation and you can see the texture. Not for me, but not a huge disappointment.
This item really made me angry, not only because it’s a tiny tester, but also because we’ve had it before! I’ve only been receiving Birchbox for 5 months, so to see it twice in that short space of time is really disappointing. I like the product, and I’ll use it, but overall I was angry that it was there.
So those are the 5 items that would have arrived in your box if you were a monthly subscriber, to me it looks like Birchbox was having a clearout and decided to send out a box containing all their left overs. Is it worth the £12.99, yes if you price up all the items you’ve recieved, but it wasn’t worth the quality of the items. For me Glossybox was a clear winner this month!
If you had entered GOALS at the check out you would have recieved two items for free in you box. The first item was the Lottie London #lashgoals mascara. I love a good mascara and the product itself was good, however the brush was super weird and mad it difficult to apply.
The second item was a LOC metallic eyecream, and it is by far the best item from this month Birchbox. It looks beautiful on, but again a tiny sample size.
I’m usually a huge fan of Birchbox but this box has really put me off, I feel like compared to Glossybox and Roccabox where you spend the same amount, they are starting to fall behind. It’s always the same brands and repeats and I’m finding it a little boring. Come on Birchbox, pull your socks up!
